The Team

Seasoned entrepreneurs, tackling serious industrial challenges.

BlackOrbit is built by repeat entrepreneurs who have shipped B2B software, sold companies, and spent time on the shop floor. We don't prescribe coordination from the outside. We've lived the problem we're solving.

Samir Bounab, Founder and CEO of BlackOrbit

Samir Bounab

Founder & CEO

Samir has spent 20 years building and selling B2B software, working hands-on across the Americas and Europe in more than 30 countries. His expertise spans IoT and embedded systems, enterprise software, hardware design and manufacturing, and telecom and network equipment, with a sharpening focus on electronics since 2017. He scaled and exited a software company, around 200 people, to a Fortune 500 (NASDAQ: AVT). He is also an LP in OSS Ventures, a software-for-manufacturing studio that has raised $100M, and in Axeleo Capital, a European fund backing industrial innovation with around €300M under management. Across all of it, the constant has been the same: complex products, long programs, and many hands that have to stay in sync.

For the last 15 months he has worked inside a precision machining shop, helping it scale and build better software tooling. That is where BlackOrbit started, from the daily reality of programs run across spreadsheets, email, and ERP, and the coordination tax that quietly slips every milestone. He does not design coordination from the outside. He builds it from inside the problem he has lived.

Samir has 3 kids and lives in San Diego, CA.

Xavier Basset, Tech Advisor to BlackOrbit

Xavier Basset

Tech Advisor

Xavier has spent 25 years turning hard research into products that ship. He built Hoomano and co-led an AI research lab, putting conversational AI assistants in the hands of more than a thousand people, years before the current wave made it look easy. He has lived the full arc of B2B technology, from early research to products people actually rely on.

As Tech Advisor, he keeps BlackOrbit honest about what AI can and cannot do on a real factory program. The goal is not novelty, it is judgment the team can trust: agents that remove busywork, surface what needs attention first, and leave the expertise with the people who have it.

He also shapes the technical foundations under the product: the architecture, infrastructure, and engineering discipline needed to run BlackOrbit at scale. Industrial programs do not tolerate flaky software, so the bar is reliability, security, and data integrity that hold up in regulated, audit-heavy environments. Xavier's job is to make sure the system stays fast and dependable as it grows from a single shop to many, without ever losing the industrial-grade rigor a factory floor demands.
